See Clearly with Advanced Trans PRK Surgery

Clear vision can make everyday activities more comfortable, whether you are reading, driving, working on a computer or enjoying sports. If you are looking for a blade-free laser vision correction procedure, Trans PRK (Transepithelial Photorefractive Keratectomy) may be a suitable option.

At Dr. P. S. Hardia Eye Hospital, we offer advanced Trans PRK surgery using modern laser technology and personalised treatment planning. Our experienced ophthalmologists carefully evaluate every patient to determine the most appropriate vision correction procedure based on their eye health, prescription and lifestyle.

Whether you have myopia (short-sightedness), hyperopia (long-sightedness) or astigmatism, our team is committed to providing safe, precise and patient-focused eye care.

    What is Trans PRK Surgery?

Trans PRK (Transepithelial Photorefractive Keratectomy) is a modern surface laser vision correction procedure that reshapes the cornea to improve the way light focuses on the retina.

Unlike conventional PRK, where the outer layer of the cornea (epithelium) is removed manually, Trans PRK uses the excimer laser to remove the epithelium and reshape the cornea in a single laser-guided procedure.

Since there are no corneal flaps involved, Trans PRK preserves the natural structure of the cornea while providing accurate vision correction for suitable candidates.

    Conditions Treated with Trans PRK

Trans PRK may be recommended for patients with:

    • Myopia (short-sightedness)
    • Hyperopia (long-sightedness)
    • Astigmatism
    • Thin corneas unsuitable for LASIK
    • Dry eye concerns where flap-based procedures may not be ideal
    • Active lifestyles where avoiding a corneal flap is beneficial

Every patient undergoes a comprehensive eye examination before surgery to determine suitability.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    Frequently Asked Questions

Why are my eyes always watering?
Persistent watery eyes (Epiphora) are usually caused by either an overproduction of tears due to irritation/dryness or a blockage in the tear drainage ducts. Probing and Syringing is used to test and clear these blockages.
Is the Probing and Syringing procedure painful?
Not at all. We use anesthetic eye drops to numb the area before starting. While you might feel a slight sensation of fluid in your nose or throat during syringing, the process is quick and virtually painless.
How long does the procedure take?
The entire process, including preparation, usually takes about 10 to 15 minutes per eye. It is performed as an outpatient procedure, so you can go home immediately.
Can this be done for babies with watery eyes?
Yes. Many infants are born with a blocked tear duct (Congenital Nasolacrimal Duct Obstruction). If it doesn't open with massage, probing is a highly successful and safe way to clear the path.
Will I need surgery after syringing?
If the syringing shows that the duct is completely and permanently scarred, a more advanced surgery called DCR might be needed. However, for many patients, simple probing is enough to solve the problem.
    What is the recovery like?
There is no "down-time." You might experience slight redness or a "stuffy nose" sensation for a few hours, but most patients return to normal activities immediately after leaving the clinic.
